The long dormant Mount Vesuvius has suddenly, mysteriously erupted after a series of other eruptions in Italy. These occured at exactly 3:00AM in the morning in the USA. At this moment, 13 teenagers wake up screaming, wracked with the agony accompanying bizarre changes in their bodies, but not to their familiar bedrooms. They have entered a mysterious piece of blank space, almost empty and not of this world. The only thing there is the Roman God(dess) that summoned them, as the prophecies told. These teens will be the new gods and goddesses of Rome, of the world, possessing the powers that the deity that has adopted them owned before their destruction. Though people may not know it, they can control their lives if their abilities allow them to do so, changing their fates at a whim. These fourteen will be transported to Mount Olympus, which in truth is not a mountain at all but a large, island-like cloud in the sky, where they will learn to use their powers and get along with each other.

Here are some bonus things you should know: On Earth, it appears that you have been kidnapped or gone missing, never to be found, and there is no simple way to get in touch with family members -you'll have to come up with something good. The deity that has adopted you does not have to be of the same gender, though in some cases it's just better (take Venus for instance). You are allowed to briefly contact your god mentor once a month on the full, quarter, or new moon. There are only 12 thrones in the marble center because Pluto orginally did not rule there. The girl who plays Juno should probably be on the older side (17, 18, 19...) simply because she is the goddess of /women/. Anything else that comes up I will add.

Setting: A beautiful wilderness containing ruins of temples to the gods that are still in fairly good condition though not completely intact, as well as a few crumbling, but still richly decorated villas. There are flowers and shrubberies and trees of all sorts along with beautiful clear water streams and lakes. Just for reference, here's about what your average piece of land looks like there: i139.photobucket.com/albums/q282/venicegirrl/25.jpg
Other places: -a volcano at the far right end of the island-of-sorts -a white marble area with 12 crumbling thrones -a grand, old palace whose diminished splendor is still apparent -an old villa full of dusty cushions and beds where the scent of perfume still heavily remains -a field with rusting weapons -an old library where many scrolls still remain -a very large salt water lake, an especially wild, large forest -a grape field -some overgrown fields that used to be obviously well tended -a large open area reminiscent of the roman forum -a grand amphitheatre with a broken lyre lying ruined in the corner -and a circular temple where the ashes of a once-great fire still remain Cookies for anyone who can name which areas belong to which gods!

ooc; Here is my intro for Jessel (more commonly known as Jess) who is the Vesta's successor.
bic; A brown haired girl tossed around in bed, sweat beading on her forehead; it was another nightmare, one of the ones where she had to run and run and run, gripped by unknown terror. These weren't very common, but when she had them, they were not at all pleasant. The glowing green numbers on the digital clock next to her bed showed 2:59:23, seconds slowly ticking by until it was 3:00, straight up. At that very moment, her eyes flashed open in wide terror, their honeyed-brown color reflecting the stars' light outside as she gave a high, piercing scream. The second after she had sat bolt up right, there was a flash of starlight... and she was gone.
I must be dreaming again, Jess thought as she looked around her in the new "dream." The surrounding space was a blank white, though flashes of red and orange ran across it if she unfocused her eyes. The only other thing in the area was a young woman. She had soft, wavy brown hair up in a bun and deep black eyes that stared at her, a soft smile playing across her lips as she looked her up and down. The woman wore a brown toga, like the outfits she had seen in her art history books at school, except simpler, plainer. In front of the woman smoked a fire, a small one lined with grey, square stones, seeming to burn without fuel. "Come, sit," she motioned, her voice melodious and soft, echoing around the whiteness. Jess obediently walked and sat across the fire from her. She had found that if she did what the people in her dream wanted, things usually went a lot better. "I should probably start out by apologizing," the woman started once Jess was seated. "Your life was been vastly changed before you were even born, though through no fault of your own -there were prophecies that commanded your fate lay on this path, and now you are, of course, at the trail's head. You have been picked to be the next goddess of the Hearth. I am Vesta, immortal Roman goddess, and I have come to pass on my powers to you. You will be able to manipulate fire, and change the outcome of things having to do with heat, brightness, and the like. I must again apologize," she hesitated, looking away guiltily before continuing. "This path requires you to study upon my ancient home, Mount Olympus... Meaning... you... won't be able to see your family again." She paused painfully, knowing that though this girl did not believe that any of this encounter was real, she would soon find out that she was forbidden to see her mortal parents and would have to suffer lonely heartbreak as they mourned for her loss. Quickly, she tried to move forward, being a sympathetic, kind goddess and not wanting to dwell on the sad losses of Jess's new lifestyle. "We only have a short time together, so I must teach you the basics of the fire magic you will control." Jess had been sitting silently the whole time, indifference running through her head as she only half listened to the words, but she perked up a little once she heard the words 'fire magic.' Might as well enjoy yourself as long as it's not a nightmare, she thought. "So, all it takes is concentration, will, charisma, and inner focus. Cup your hands together like this," she modeled, pressing the sides of her palms together in a cradle, "and concentrate all your will on the heat and how your intentions are good in wanting to bring the fire there -don't let yourself get distracted by any of your thoughts, those don't matter now..." a burst of flickering flames appeared in Vesta's hands with ease, dancing red and yellow. Jess swallowed, focusing on the space between her palms so hard she began to develop a head ache. After a few moments of no success, a tiny flame burst there for an instant before going out. "Yes! That was amazing!" Jess cried delightedly. Vesta gave a smile before looking at a small sundial which had just appeared beside her, and the grin quickly faded. "Oh, dear... I fear I have to go," she paused, wincing. "When you leave this place, you will arrive on Olympus, and it will be a month before I'll see you again... Well... Good-bye!" Her guilt ridden features disappeared along with the whiteness. Jess's world went black.
